Voilà! 2026 | Review invitation FAQs

Here you’ll find answers to common questions about review invitations, press tickets and publication. For any further enquiries, please contact press@showtalk.org.

Review invitations

Can we invite ShowTalk if our production does not use Chinese?

Yes. We welcome invitations for all productions in the official Voilà! Theatre Festival 2026 programme. Artists, companies, producers and authorised press representatives may contact us. Details of performance languages and subtitles or surtitles help us arrange a suitable critic.

How do we send an invitation for one or more productions?

Please send your details to press@showtalk.org, using the invitation template as a reference. The subject line is “Voilà 2026 Review Invitation | Production Title”.

A separate email for each production keeps its information and available review performances together. Any updates can follow in the same thread.

How far in advance should we contact you?

We welcome invitations once performance arrangements are in place, giving us time to coordinate critics and dates. Please include any deadline for confirming press tickets.

How are critics assigned?

Our editors coordinate suitable critics according to their availability, the languages used, the type of work and its cultural context.

Can you accept every invitation?

We hope to see work from across the programme, although our critics’ availability and coverage schedule mean we may not be able to accept every invitation.

Performances and press tickets

When should we arrange press tickets?

Tickets can be arranged once both sides have confirmed the visit. We will agree the performance, attending critic, ticket name, number of tickets and collection details with you. There is no need to hold seats or issue tickets with the initial invitation.

How many press tickets are required?

The number is agreed according to the visit. You can include the quantity available and any restrictions in your invitation, and we will confirm what is needed when arranging the performance.

What happens if a performance or attendance arrangement changes?

Updates can be sent in the confirmation thread. For changes close to the performance, please also use the contact details agreed for the day. We will let you know promptly if our own plans change.

Articles and editorial work

When will a review be published?

Decisions on whether and when to publish take account of the critic’s observations and our writing and editing schedule. You are welcome to mention any performance dates you would like us to bear in mind.

How can we discuss language editions and preferred translations?

Questions about English and Chinese editions are welcome in your invitation. Please also share any official Chinese title, preferred translations and credits. A glossary of preferred terminology is also welcome for our translators to refer to.

Will we be able to read the review before publication?

Reviews are written independently by the attending critic and edited by ShowTalk, rather than sent to productions for approval. Press tickets do not influence opinions, ratings or publication arrangements. Background notes and creative context are welcome with your invitation for the critic’s reference.

How can we raise a factual error or incorrect credit?

Please send the article link, the passage in question and any relevant information to press@showtalk.org. We will look into questions about facts, credits or rights carefully.

Does a review invitation involve paid promotion?

This channel is for independent review invitations. Any separate project or promotional collaboration involving a fee would be discussed in advance and agreed in writing.

Press materials and contact information

Can we send an invitation before production photographs are available?

Yes. You are welcome to send the production details first and supply images when they are available.

How will press images and trailers be used?

Images are used within the permission you provide. Please include links or attachment filenames for images you authorise ShowTalk to publish, together with photographer or rights holder credits, and note any third-party rights or uses that need separate permission.

Trailer links help our editors learn about the production. Any additional permission to download, republish or otherwise use the footage can be noted with the link.

Will our contact details be published?

Contact details are used to manage the invitation and coordinate attendance. They will not be published with the article or added automatically to a marketing list.

Who can we contact about personal data requests?

For GDPR-related personal data requests, please contact privacy@showtalk.org.

Thank you for sharing your work with ShowTalk. We hope to have the opportunity to see it at the festival.
