How to Apply for a Review: Camden Fringe 2026

Apply for a ShowTalk Review: A Guide for Productions

ShowTalk is inviting productions appearing at Camden Fringe 2026 to apply for review consideration. Within our available reviewing and editing capacity, we aim to discover work with a distinctive artistic voice, a compelling live dimension and genuine value for readers. This invitation is for productions; critics are assigned internally and cannot be selected by applicants.

Who can apply

  • Productions listed in the official Camden Fringe 2026 programme
  • Companies, producers, artists or authorised press representatives
  • Theatre, comedy, dance, music, opera, improv, immersive work, family shows and cross-genre projects
  • Each application must identify one specific production and its available performance dates; please submit only one main application per show

What to prepare

  • Show details: title, official festival listing, genre, running time, performance language, age guidance and relevant content notes
  • Performance details: dates and times, venue, and preferred performances for review
  • About the work: a short synopsis, three to five keywords and key creative highlights
  • Press materials: a press pack, publishable images, accurate credits and permission for image use; a trailer is optional
  • Team and contact details: principal creatives, website or social channels, and a contact for ticketing or urgent schedule changes
  • Ticket availability: if selected, the ability to provide the agreed press or review ticket for the confirmed performance

How to take part

Step 1: Submit your show

Email complete information about a specific production and the performances available for review to press@showtalk.org. There is no need to issue a ticket at this stage, and a company introduction alone is not sufficient.

Step 2: Editorial selection

ShowTalk verifies that the production is part of the official festival programme and considers critic availability, editorial value, the completeness of the materials, the balance of festival coverage and conflicts of interest. Applications are not handled on a simple first-come, first-served basis.

Step 3: Confirm the ticket and performance

If we would like to schedule coverage, ShowTalk will contact the applicant to confirm the performance, ticket name, collection method and day-of-show contact. Attendance is final only when both the ticket and critic have been explicitly confirmed. Please do not reserve or issue a ticket before hearing from us.

Step 4: Attendance and publication

ShowTalk matches a critic according to availability, genre, cultural context and conflicts of interest. The critic attends in person and writes independently. The article is edited, fact-checked and checked for image permissions before publication. Publication timing and the availability of a translated edition remain subject to editorial scheduling.

How coverage is selected

An application does not guarantee a review. We consider whether a suitable critic can attend without a conflict of interest, whether the show offers a useful critical angle, whether it adds variety to the overall programme of coverage and whether the submission is complete. Production budget, company profile, the number of complimentary tickets and promises of social sharing do not improve an application's chances. If coverage cannot be arranged, this will usually reflect scheduling or capacity rather than a judgement on the quality of the work.

Press tickets and editorial independence

A complimentary press ticket enables attendance and coverage; it does not purchase a positive review, a particular star rating, an editorial angle or a publication date. Productions may provide accurate materials and request corrections to verifiable factual errors, but they cannot approve the article before publication or require opinions, criticism or ratings to be changed or withdrawn.

Privacy and personal data

We take the protection of your personal data seriously. We use the personal data you provide to manage review invitations, record whether we are able to attend, and communicate with you about potential editorial coverage. We will not use your contact details for marketing unless you have expressly consented to receive marketing communications from us.

Any production information or press materials you provide (other than personal contact details or information clearly marked as confidential) may be used to research, prepare, publish and archive our editorial coverage. Further information about how we handle personal data is available in the full Privacy Notice on our website.

To exercise your data protection rights, including requesting the deletion of your personal data where applicable, please contact us at privacy@showtalk.org. We will respond in accordance with applicable data protection law.

Submit an application

Once your materials are ready, email them to press@showtalk.org. Use the subject line “Camden Fringe Review Application + Production Title” and include the required information in the message or as attachments. To help us track your submission, please do not resend the full application through social-media direct messages.
