In the springtime of London, a cultural invitation spanning 1,200 years is quietly waiting for those who truly understand it.

The epic historical documentary Kukai is the result of five years of dedication and refinement. The production team traveled extensively across China and Japan, retracing the footsteps of great masters. Its camera sweeps across the thousand-year lantern light of Koyasan’s Toro-do Hall, and lingers on the morning bells and evening drums of Qinglong Temple, all in pursuit of bringing that magnificent era back to life—and of portraying the lifelong journey of Master Kukai, whose spirit was rooted in inner purity and compassionate salvation.

The film has already made its mark on the international stage, having won 8 international awards and been selected by more than 20 international film festivals—powerful recognition of both its artistic excellence and cultural depth. And now, it has arrived in the UK.

More than just an ordinary screening, this preview event is closer to an intimate cultural salon. After the film, members of the creative team will be there in person to share the untold stories behind the camera. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions freely, from details of the production to the broader history of cultural exchange between China and Japan.
